LUBBOCK- State Representative John Frullo (Lubbock) received the Empower Texans 2011 Taxpayers' Advocate Award from Texans for Fiscal Responsibility Tuesday in honor of his fiscally conservative voting record during the 82nd Legislative Session.

The award is given to legislators based on the ratings given to them by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility. The scorecard ranks Texas' legislators according to how they voted on legislation that was favorable to taxpayers during the most recent legislative session.

"We need to recognize good representation when we see it," said Andrew Kerr, Executive Director of Empower Texans/Texans for Fiscal Responsibility. "Representative Frullo is a strong advocate for Texas taxpayers, and he is exactly what is needed in Austin. Especially going into the next legislative session."

Kerr said Rep. Frullo knows what it means to operate a small business in this tax and expenditure climate, and knows what it is that needs to be done to support small businesses and encourage people to create jobs in the state of Texas.

"It is an honor and privilege to receive this award," Frullo said after being presented with the award. "Small business is what drives Texas' economy. We need to do the right things and keep taxes low, and Texas will continue to prosper. We've created more jobs and it's because we have a great business environment. I look forward to continuing to make sure that we promote small business and employ people."
