AUSTIN, TEXAS - Today, Pastor Ken Pruitt of the First Baptist Church of Fairfield led the Texas House in the morning invocation. Pastor Pruitt began his service in church ministry in 1986 and has been senior pastor at the First Baptist Church since August 2008.

Pastor of the Day is a long-time tradition of the Texas Legislature, which affords each state representative and senator the opportunity to choose a pastor from the district for which they serve to open the day's legislative session with prayer.

Representative Cook was honored to introduce his Freestone County constituent, Pastor Pruitt, as Pastor of the Day, whose invocation included these words -- "We thank you for our great state, and the many principles, values and decisions that bring you honor from within this House of Representatives. We ask for your pardon over those things in our land that do not honor You; and pray that in all things the great state of Texas will constantly seek Your face and know Your will."

Cook remarked, "I thank my friend Pastor Ken for taking the time to share his faith and offer encouragement as lawmakers spend long hours working to address the many critical issues facing us during this exceptionally challenging legislative session."
