Austin, Texas–Today, Texas House Speaker Joe Straus announced committee assignments for the 83rd Legislative Session. Rep. Rose (Dallas) was appointed to serve on two key committees, the House Committee on Corrections and the House Human Services Committee.
As a member of the House Committee on Corrections, Rep. Rose will be working on legislation that pertains to matters of incarceration and rehabilitation of convicted felons, both adult and juvenile. The committee also oversees the establishment and maintenance of programs that provide alternatives to incarceration; as well as the construction, operation, and management of correctional facilities.
Rep. Rose was also selected to serve on the House Human Services Committee. The committee’s jurisdiction includes: oversight of the Health and Human Services commission, and the prevention and treatment of intellectual disabilities; and its programs. Rep. Rose will be working to ensure the development, administration and control for welfare and rehabilitation.
With over twenty years of experience in the fields of both criminal justice and mental health, these assignments are a good fit for Representative Rose. “We have many serious issues to tackle and have tough decisions to make, "added Rep. Rose. " I am looking forward to working on behalf of the residents of District 110 and all citizens of Texas."
