Kevin Roberts was sworn in as the State Representative for House District 126 on January 10, 2017. Roberts, a native Texan, was raised by his grandparents in Amarillo. As a 14-year-old, he got his first job delivering prescriptions for a local retail drugstore, where he learned the importance of integrity, commitment, and hard work. He worked to pay his own way through Texas Tech University and became the first college graduate in his family.

Representative Roberts has spent the majority of his career in executive management and leadership roles. Using his expertise in strategic planning, organizational design, and financial and organizational management. Roberts excels in growing small, local businesses into nationwide enterprises. Through his ability to make tough decisions, he keeps businesses financially stable while fostering their rapid growth. Since 2002, he has worked as Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of The Lanier Law Firm, where he guided the expansion of the firm into Los Angeles and New York.

For the 85th Legislative Session, Rep. Roberts was named to the House Committee on Appropriations, the House Committee on County Affairs, and the House Select Committee on Texas Ports, Innovation & Infrastructure. The Appropriations committee is primarily responsible for all areas of state spending. This includes the writing of the state budget and supplemental spending bills. The County Affairs committee is the primary oversight committee for the 254 counties in the state of Texas, as well as the Texas Commission on Jail Standards. The Texas Ports committee is tasked with reviewing Texas ports’ infrastructure including inland borders and border ports of entry and to analyze changes to the global trade landscape and the preparedness of Texas ports and border ports of entry to capitalize on those changes. This committee is of particular importance because Texas ports connect to global markets across a vast array of industries.

Kevin is married to his wife, Hollie, and they have two sons, Josh and Will. Since moving to Houston, they have been active members of Champion Forest Baptist Church, where Kevin serves as a deacon. Kevin is also an active member of the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce, Houston Realty Business Coalition, and the Klein ISD Career and Technical Education Advisory Council. Roberts has also served on the Board of Directors for the D. Bradley McWilliams YMCA at Cypress Creek and Northland Christian School, where he founded the school?s nationally recognized debate team.
